Kick-Off Meeting Success

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!

To all parents, players and extended family who attended the DHS Bronco Tennis kick-off meeting on Monday, August 7th. We had a wonderful evening full of fun, food, prizes and most importantly season information! A very special Thank You to Wilson who donated the amazing $400 gift package that contained a new racquet, bag, strings, overgrip and other accessories.

We want to also thank Dickie’s BBQ for the amazing food and Raising Cane’s for the refreshing beverage donation! Thanks also to the parents/family members who brought side dishes and deserts.

The fall season will kick-off this year before school even officially begins! I cannot believe summer is over and another year is starting. Good luck to all of our players on and off the court and we hope that everyone has a very successful year – from the Freshman students making the transition into high school smoothly to the Seniors who are thinking about completing their HS careers on a positive note while looking forward to beginning their next chapter in life.

Please come out and support the Varsity team Tuesday, August 15th at the DHS courts. We will play LD Bell – a very tough team that will provide great competition on the courts. This should be a great match to watch!

Bronco Tennis Results

Another week of tennis, another tournament positively destroyed by the Denton Bronco JV Tennis team. Since taking second place as a team last week wasn’t good enough, they decided to rack up some more hardware this week and take 1st place in the Eaton High School tournament. This time, we took home medals in every single category. A special shoutout to Whitney Fink, Annie Mayfield, Hudson Shuck, and Sam Taliaferro for have an all DHS mixed doubles finals for the second tournament in a row.

Boys Singles
Collin Renfro, 2nd main
Kolt Bundy, 1st consolation
Sam Johnston, 2nd consolation

Girls Singles
Zoe Hutton, 3rd main
Miku Ando, 2nd consolation

Boys Doubles
Evan Eshelman and Ever Gregorio 2nd main
Kyler Bullard and Matthew Ko 1st consolation

Girls Doubles
Tina Tsoi and Carrie Shi 1st consolation

Mixed Doubles
Sam Taliaferro and Annie Mayfield 1st main
Hudson Shuck and Whitney Fink 2nd main
Adrian Cortes and Leanna Wells, 2nd consolation

Varsity also fought hard, though I must say their level of competition is much higher. At every turn, our players were taken out of contention by the same team we lost to in District in the Fall; Aledo. However, winning in a tight tiebreaker against the Aledo team, Jocey Guzman and Xochitl Salazar took revenge for the broncos and took 1st place consolation in Girls Doubles as well.

Congratulations, Broncos.
